Dear U3A Broadbeach Member,

Welcome to 2023, I hope that the year has started off well for you. This is going to be an exciting year for us as we begin a new chapter for U3A Broadbeach.

After many years of a happy association with Merrimac State High School the time has come to move on. We have been fortunate to be able to find a new home base at BAVIA House in Broadbeach. This will enable us to have most of our classes in the one place over 3-4 days per week. All classes can be conducted between 9am and 4pm. There are two spaces available, which means that we can have two classes running at the same time if necessary. We are very grateful to the BAVIA House committee for welcoming us to their venue.

We will of course need to pay rent for the premises and again BAVIA House have been considerate of our needs. It does, however, mean that we will need to raise our membership fees. The fee for the year will be $70 per person and $90 for a couple. Any member attending classes at BAVIA House will not be required to pay an additional fee.

However classes held at other rented venues will still need to pay an additional fee, to be determined by the class tutor.

This newsletter will outline the dates and process for enrolling in classes. I apologise for the delay in forwarding this information but our negotiations have only recently been concluded.

I would like to thank and acknowledge the support from the U3A committee especially the tutor manager and team and the team putting together the newsletter and the enrolment details.

I look forward to your continued participation in U3A Broadbeach and a successful 2023.

Robert McRae
President

Anyone visiting the recent exhibition  by our U3A Art Group at Robina Library will have been impressed by the standard of work under display. There is a lot of talent among our members and it is great to see this getting recognition among the wider public.
