The next U3A meeting at Griffith University is on Friday 7 September and will be a presentation by Professor Brad Jackson:
Social Innovation as a means to promote sustainable inclusive growth in Australia
This lecture will describe the growth of social innovation in the private and not-for-profit sectors which uses market mechanisms to effect social change. Three interrelated forms of social innovation ‒ social enterprise, social finance, and social procurement ‒ will be examined to highlight the role they have played in promoting inclusive growth in regions and communities. The limitations of and challenges faced by social innovation will be discussed with a view to suggesting ways that socially innovative techniques might be more widely utilised throughout Australia.
