BOOK GROUP for BOOK LOVERS
Book Group 2021
The U3A Broadbeach Book Club will meet for the first time in 2021 on Friday 19 March at Merrimac High School. Room allocation is to be advised.
Sessions will run from 12 noon to 1.30 pm. The dates for 2021 are as follow:
Term 1 Friday 19 March (Own Choice)
Term 2 Friday 30 April (Own Choice)
Friday 11 June (Book for All)
Term 3 Friday 23 July (Own Choice)
Friday 3 September (Book for All)
Term 4 Friday 15 October (Own Choice)
Friday 26 November (Book for All)
BUT if those who opt for this class turn out to have a strong preference for meeting once a month, we can change the above schedule. Meeting monthly would effectively increase our sessions from two times per term to three times per term.
Own Choice: This means you can talk about any book or books that you have read since the last session. Plan to give an idea of the story or theme (but don’t give away the whole plot!), the style in which it is written and the things you liked or didn’t like about the book. As a group we may decide to set a theme, genre or author for these Own Choice sessions. For example, we may agree to all read a book in the crime thriller genre, but not necessarily the same book.
Book for All: At the end of the Own Choice session we will choose a book that everyone will read so that we can discuss that book is some detail when we meet. I will look into drawing on the Gold Coast City Council Library’s book club resources to help with this.
Looking forward to reading and hearing about lots of good books in 2021,
Josephine (Jo) Holman
