German Beginners
This is a participative and fun-filled course which will heighten your awareness of German customs and regional variations in cultural values and expectations (which many of you will bring to the course from your travels, reading, film and TV viewing and relationships with family and friends who are German speakers or German descendants ).
You will be learning Deutsch with an experienced German teacher using the highly regarded Oxford University “Take off in German” complete language - learning kit which includes an easy-to use textbook and four CD’s with lots of conversation models and activities to help you speak High German (Hochdeutsch) while learning basic grammar and vocabulary to prepare you for travelling and interacting with German speakers in everyday situations. The content is suitable for retired people in U3A and will give you a lot of practice in listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.
No prior knowledge of the language is required for the Beginners Course but progression to an Intermediate course at a later stage will require a slightly higher level of spoken skills.
