The next U3A lecture at Griffith University is on Friday 11 June and will be presented by academic Daniel Della-Bosca and student Jayden Allen, from the Queensland College of Art.
The lecture venue is in G39_1.17 and the schedule will be:
1:30pm Attendees start arriving
2:00pm Welcome & Lecture Introduction by Dr Andrew Bode
2:05 pm Presentation by Guest Lecturer
3:00pm Question time
3.15pm Close of lecture
Lecture title: Microphotogrammetry for the Masses: How to create microscopic 3D scans of objects using consumer-grade equipment for 3D printing and digital experiences.
Daniel Della-Bosca is a lecturer in design at the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University. He has worked and exhibited nationally and internationally as a designer and artist and is committed to the advancement of art and design education. Daniel's primary research focus is the application of fractal mathematics to the field of aesthetics, and his specific skill sets are the interdisciplinary bridges between art, design, CAD software and algorithmic generation of image and form. Daniel has a portfolio that spans public sculpture, exhibit design, jewellery and animation, all for the purpose of engaging in visual and haptic discourse.
Jayden Allen is studying a Bachelor of Creative and Interactive Media Student (Honours) at Griffith. After discovering his passion for emerging technologies and 3D art and design, Jayden has been focusing on the emerging world of virtual reality and pushing the limits of photogrammetry. His current research focuses on creating techniques to 3D scan microscopic objects using consumer-oriented hardware and software, opening up a new world of digital content for the masses. Jayden plans to use his photogrammetry skills to create large-scale models of microscopic objects. His research project will have applications in art, education, medical research and beyond.
The venue for this lecture is close to the Griffith University tram stop. When you get to the entrance to G39, don't go into the building but proceed to the left and you will find the lecture room at the back of the building.
