Dear U3A friends,
It is hard to imagine only weeks ago the world looked very different, but the evolving COVID-19 crisis has presented many unexpected challenges for us all. I hope you and your families are safe and well.
My communication is two-fold; to inform you of how Griffith is responding to the pandemic’s impact on students and to offer up some free Griffith online resources to share with your members, so that learning can continue despite being unable to meet face to face.
The pandemic has thrown up many challenges for Griffith and our students. Recent weeks have seen a heavy focus on innovation in the academic space to allow educational delivery to continue.
Now that most students are able to continue their study online, we are turning attention to the plight of the many students who are experiencing severe hardship due to the evolving COVID-19 crisis.
COVID-19 Student Support Bursary
Many of our students are in urgent need of resources required to continue to study online or need support to cover basic living expenses as they have lost their jobs or financial backing. The Vice Chancellor in the past few weeks launched an urgent appeal to support students.
Despite significant investment by the University, the requests for support considerably outnumber the bursaries currently available.
If you can help, please join us to support our student community by donating online here:
https://www.griffith.edu.au/development-alumni/giving/covid-19-student-bursary-support
100% of funds donated will go to students immediately and every dollar helps.
Please feel free to also pass this email on to your circle of friends and help us spread the word.
