January 2017 Newsletter
A happy 2017 to all our members and l trust you are sticking to your resolutions. I was going to open with a rather grand quote from Anton Chekhov: -
"Wisdom comes not from age, but from education and learning.” But, for me a least, l think this one from George Clooney has more resonance:- "You never really learn much from hearing yourself speak.” Anyway l hope you learn something below about our U3A's plans for your education and learning for this year. No doubt the wisdom bit will follow. Good Tucker A big thank you to Robyn for masterminding another very enjoyable Christmas lunch. With the Choir in good voice and food in quality and abundance it is no wonder that this event is becoming better supported each year. Make sure you don't miss out in 2017. U3A Office Relocation We will be advised in the near future of the new location of our office within Merrimac State High School and this will be published on our website with the campus map duly revised. U3A Term Dates Term 1: Monday, February 20th- Friday, March 31st Term 2: Tuesday, April 18th-Friday June 23rd Term 3: Monday, July 10th- Friday, September 15th Term 4: Tuesday, October 3rd-Friday, December 1 U3A Classes- starting February 20th As ever we will need to be patient regarding class allocation as we are unable to give an exact place for the various classes until after school has commenced and has been going for a couple of weeks. The school administration has to house their own pupils first and then we fit into the blank spaces left behind. We are looking to publish the new U3A time table on our website at u3abroadbeach.com. As soon as this becomes available. |
It is anticipated that most of the classes will be held at the same time as last year and also in the same place but we will bring to your attention any changes.
Students of all classes which are held "off campus" should contact their tutor to check on arrangements if they have not heard from him / her a week before the U3A term commences.
