So Eggcited? Goodness me, here l am writing your March Newsletter and we have already reached our half term break for Easter. This mirrors the school's half term with the last day for us being Thursday 24th March and recommencement, Monday 11th April. Underwhelmed I am sorry to report that whilst we thought that Basic Computing would again be up and running it has been unsaddled by a level of demand below viable levels. Members wishing to pursue this might contact Southport U3A to see if they can obtain a place on their courses. Overwhelmed? By contrast the number of members wishing to attend an iPad course has now reached a staggering 45 and thought is being given as to how to give everyone a a chance of doing so over the coming year. Your patience is called for. "Our patience will achieve more than our force. " - Edmund Burke Linda Crittenden is looking for people who are comfortable and confident with the iPad and who would be happy, with extra training from Linda, to deliver courses in addition to her own. Mucho lingo Joelle and Sylvain Repoux, who already make a great contribution in running Spanish and French classes, have kindly indicated that they would also be happy to consider running courses in Brazilian-Portugese, Italian and Arabic. If this is something you would like to take forward please email your interest to [email protected] No Worries It is pleasing to report that Julie Kuiters has kindly offered to run another six week course on the following dates: Thursday, 28th April to Thursday, 2nd June. The course will be run under the new title :- "Coping with stress in your changing world" If you would like to in attend this course please express your interest by emailing [email protected]. Further details will be available in due course. Mission Possible George Saalmann, who has previously been involved with U3A classes in Chess, Computers and Cribbage has kindly indicated his readiness to deliver 5x2 hour courses covering the following subjects:- 1) Orienteering, Map reading and Navigation 2) History of Jazz and influence on modern music 3) Theory of flight and radio communications Anyone interested in one or more of these areas should contact George at [email protected] |
Retirement Talks – Broadbeach Branch Library – Friday 8 April 2016 We have been advised that The Park and Village Information Link will offer a free Community Legal Information session at the Broadbeach Branch Library on Friday 8 April 2016. The 10am – 11.30am session will be about Retirement Living Options - Learn about the key features of retirement villages and manufactured homes parks. The library is at 61 Sunshine Boulevard Mermaid Waters. If you are interested please book your spot on (07) 5581 1555. The Big One Here's your third reminder that U3A Broadbeach, AGM will take place at 9.30 a.m. In the Hospitality Room of Merrimac State High School on Thursday, 24th March.
