The Memoirs group is revving up for the 2018 program of leaving our footprints on the sands of time.
There will be a few members from last year returning to continue their stories, but there will be a number of vacancies for new members. You will be very welcome if you decide to join us.
On your first day, you will be given approximately one minute to briefly introduce yourself to the group - it should consist of name, rank, service number, and a few details about you.
You will then receive a screed of hints for writing your story. We will briefly discuss these tips. Any questions will be welcome, and answered by Don, your intrepid leader, or by the more experienced writers amongst the group. Each writing tip will be dealt with in detail during the year.
Last year's members could write a couple of pages to give the new writers a sample, and I will present something of mine.
A final word to folk who are considering joining. Previous writing experience is definitely not a pre-requisite. You will be amazed at how quickly your writing improves. Your grandchildren will love you for doing it, and future generations will be most thankful.
A final word after the other final word. You will be amazed at how many memories come to you once you start, it is great fun writing them, and to repeat the first part, it is a satisfying feeling leaving your footprint on those sands of time.
I look forward to meeting and working with you.
