Tai Chi
An outline of the program which Susan Fry, the tutor, will follow.
Tai Chi, a form of martial art from ancient China, is now recognized as an effective body/mind exercise when practiced regularly.
In its pure ‘martial art’ form, Tai Chi is largely unsuitable for many people to practise. Dr Paul Lam, a Medical Doctor in Sydney, recognized the need to create a therapeutic Tai Chi program that was accessible and manageable for all. Dr Lam’s programs are now accepted and practiced globally. In 2005 I went to Sydney to learn Tai Chi for Arthritis and to qualify as an instructor, working directly with Paul. Since then, I have taught in Australia and New Zealand.
Whilst Dr Lam’s programs can now be readily accessed ‘on-line’ there is no doubt that regular practise in a face-to-face group setting can be even more therapeutic and motivational. It really only works if you practise.
U3A Broadbeach can now offer a Tai Chi class based on Dr Lam’s programs."
The class will be held each first and third Friday from 11:30 to 12:30 at Bavia House.
